Postcards from the Edge
Art – no matter whether you choose to create it yourself or simply observe and enjoy it – is a relaxing and inspiring activity for many people. However, the particular benefits of artistic expression go much further than relaxation and enjoyment. Studies suggest that art therapy can be very valuable in treating issues such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and even some phobias. It is a great way to express your emotions, process complex feelings and find relief.
During these unprecedented times, as our world shrinks to the confines of our own homes, Space For You would like to encourage you to express your feelings through creative activity.
You do not have to be a talented artist or have access to an array of art materials to make art, all you need is yourself, your emotions, a surface to work on and something to make marks with.
The Project: Postcards from the Edge
Use any medium/materials of your choice and create something or lots of things that best express your experience / feelings / emotions.
Take a photo of your work – if you would like to add a message to accompany your image, please do – and send it as a jpeg to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Post your image/s to Space For You, 30 Cornwall Terrace, Penzance, Cornwall, TR18 4HL
Pop it through the letter box at Space For You, 30 Cornwall Terrace, Penzance, Cornwall, TR18 4HL
During the isolation period the work and messages will be posted onto Space For You’s Facebook page @spaceforyou19, for sharing with everyone out there at this difficult time.
When we are able, we hope to create an open exhibition of all the works as ‘Postcards from the Edge’ to be viewed at Space For You.
In the meantime, a virtual gallery can be found here.
